Ver Sacrum Dona Mencia de los Andes 2021

Ver Sacrum is a small, boutique winery in Argentina’s Mendoza region with a spirit of exploration and innovation. Founded in 2012 by Eduardo Soler, the project focuses on Mediterranean and lesser-grown grape varieties (like Mencía) planted in high-altitude sites such as Los Chacayes in the Uco Valley. The name Ver Sacrum, Latin for “sacred spring", reflects Soler’s inspiration from a Roman rite symbolizing renewal and new beginnings. The team practices sustainable viticulture, hand-harvesting all fruit and often working with native yeasts and minimal intervention in the cellar to showcase pure expression of site and variety.

The Ver Sacrum Doña Mencía de los Andes 2021 is a distinctive, medium-bodied red built from 100% Mencía grown on a tiny 0.4-hectare parcel in the Los Chacayes IG of the Uco Valley. Its high-altitude limestone and alluvial soils, along with fermentation via ambient yeasts, lend lifted aromatics of berry fruits, violets, and spice. On the palate, it combines bright red fruit with mineral nuance, fine tannins, and balanced acidity, yielding an elegant yet expressive experience that stands apart from traditional Argentine reds and highlights Mencía’s personality in an Andes terroir. It’s received strong acclaim, including 93 points from Falstaff.
