Ventisquero Pangea Syrah 2017

Ventisquero Pangea Syrah 2017 is one of Chile's ambitious expressions of Syrah, produced from the celebrated hillsides of Apalta in the Colchagua Valley.

Pangea was created through the collaboration of Ventisquero winemaker Felipe Tosso and legendary Australian winemaker John Duval, whose career includes nearly three decades at Penfolds and years overseeing the production of Grange. Their partnership brings together the distinctive terroir of Apalta with a deep understanding of world-class Syrah.

The wine is powerful yet remarkably composed, showing layers of blackberry, blueberry and black plum alongside cracked pepper, violet, smoked meat, graphite and savory spice. Extended maturation in French oak contributes structure and complexity without obscuring the character of the fruit.

With several years of bottle age already behind it, the 2017 Pangea provides an opportunity to experience premium Chilean Syrah with additional development and complexity. It's an especially compelling bottle for drinkers of Northern Rhône Syrah or sophisticated Australian Shiraz who want to explore what Chile can accomplish with the variety.
