Finca Valpiedra is one of Rioja’s most distinctive and celebrated single estate wineries, a property in Rioja Alta whose vineyards sit within a dramatic meander of the Ebro River, creating a unique microclimate and terroir that set its wines apart from the broader appellation. The estate is owned by the Martínez Bujanda family, one of Rioja's most respected winemaking dynasties, and has been farmed as a single estate since 1994 with a commitment to expressing the full potential of this extraordinary site. The Reserva is the estate’s flagship wine, a Tempranillo dominant blend aged in French and American oak that captures the elegance and complexity of great Rioja Alta in a wine of genuine character and age worthiness.

The 2016 Finca Valpiedra Reserva Rioja DOCa is from an excellent vintage across the appellation, producing wines of exceptional balance and aromatic complexity. A Tempranillo-dominant blend with Graciano and Mazuelo, aged for two years in a combination of French and American oak casks, the wine has had a decade to develop the complexity and integration that defines great Rioja Reserva at its peak. Garnet with a brick orange rim, the nose is classically Riojan and beautifully evolved, revealing dried cherry, leather, tobacco, and vanilla layered with cedar, dried herbs, and a hint of spice. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied with silky, well-integrated tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, complex finish of real elegance.
