Stringer Cellars is a small, artisan producer rooted in the diverse terroirs of Santa Barbara County — one of California's most exciting and climatically varied wine regions, where the transverse mountain ranges channel cool Pacific Ocean air directly into the vineyards, creating conditions that are uniquely suited to producing wines of freshness, precision, and aromatic complexity. The winery focuses on small-lot, vineyard-specific wines that express the character of Santa Barbara's distinct appellations with honesty and clarity, and their Chardonnay program draws from some of the county's finest sites.
The 2021 Stringer Cellars Santa Barbara Chardonnay is a cool-climate California Chardonnay of genuine character — a world away from the heavily oaked, butter-driven style that once defined the category, and closer in spirit to the great white Burgundies that inspire it. Pale gold in the glass, the nose is elegant and precise: white peach, lemon curd, and green apple layered with toasted hazelnut, a hint of brioche, and a subtle mineral note that speaks to the vineyard's cool-climate origins. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and focused, with vibrant acidity, a creamy mid-palate, and a long, clean finish with a mineral undercurrent that lingers.
The Stringer Cellars Santa Barbara Chardonnay 2021 is exceptional alongside roasted halibut, pan-seared scallops, roasted chicken, or a classic pasta with cream sauce — a Santa Barbara Chardonnay of genuine terroir character and understated elegance.
