Raventos i Blanc Can Sumoi Serra de L’Home Xarel-lo 2022

Can Sumoi is a collaboration between Pepe Raventós and his childhood friend, Francesc Escala, located at 600 meters above sea level in the Serra de l’Home mountain range in the Penedès region. The estate covers 400 hectares, with 30 hectares dedicated to organic vineyards featuring old Montonega, Xarel-lo, and Sumoll vines. The estate’s 350-year-old farmhouse and surrounding oak and pine trees reflect the wild, unspoiled landscape.

The Xarel-lo for Can Sumoi Serra de L'Home 2022 is grown on limestone soils and farmed organically without additives, stabilization, or filtration. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts in tank, and undergoes twice-weekly batonnage for three months before bottling, resulting in a pure expression of the land. With no added sulfur, the wine showcases its natural character, with only trace amounts from fermentation.

This vibrant wine offers fresh and herbal aromas of fennel and thyme, while the fruit flavors lean toward crisp, underripe apples, balanced by a clean acidity and subtle salty finish. Can Sumoi Xarel-lo is a reflection of its wild surroundings and its natural winemaking process, offering a bright, electric character.
