Leclerc-Briant is one of Champagne's most pioneering and philosophically committed estates — a biodynamic producer in Épernay with roots stretching back to 1872, and a reputation for pushing the boundaries of what Champagne can be. Under the stewardship of Hervé Jestin, the estate has become a beacon for natural, terroir-driven Champagne, farming its vineyards without synthetic chemicals and vinifying with minimal intervention. The Blanc de Meunier is one of Leclerc-Briant's most distinctive and celebrated cuvées — a single-variety, single-vineyard Champagne from Premier Cru vineyards in Cummières, made without any dosage (Brut Zero) to let the wine's pure terroir character speak without compromise.
Pinot Meunier is Champagne's most planted but least celebrated variety — typically used as a blending component for its early-drinking fruit and roundness, rarely vinified on its own. Leclerc-Briant's Blanc de Meunier challenges that convention entirely, demonstrating that Meunier from great terroir can produce a Champagne of extraordinary complexity and depth. The 2015 vintage was warm and generous in Champagne, and this Brut Zero — with no added sugar to soften the wine's natural acidity — is a wine of remarkable tension and precision. Pale gold with a fine, persistent bead, the nose is complex and evolving: red apple, quince, and dried apricot layered with brioche, toasted hazelnut, and a deep, chalky minerality. On the palate, the wine is taut and precise, with electric acidity, a creamy texture, and a long, mineral finish of real complexity.
The Leclerc-Briant Blanc de Meunier Premier Cru Brut Zero 2015 is a Champagne for the curious and the adventurous — exceptional alongside oysters, sushi, or delicate seafood preparations, and a wine that will continue to evolve and reward patience in the cellar.
