Lancaster Winemaker's Cuvee Red Blend 2021

Lancaster Estate draws its pedigree from the hillside vineyards of the Alexander Valley in Sonoma County, where warm-day climates, cool nights and nutrient-deficient, alluvial and gravelly loam soils force the vines to work hard and deliver highly concentrated fruit. The estate’s viticulture and winemaking team apply precision mapping, micro-climate evaluation and clone/rootstock selection to ensure each block expresses the best of the site. With fewer than 5,000 cases of this cuvée produced in 2021, this wine reflects both small-batch attention and a commitment to serious quality.

Wine Characteristics
The 2021 Winemaker’s Cuvée is a Bordeaux-style blend dominated by 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by 10% Cabernet Franc and small amounts of Merlot and Petit Verdot (or in some sources, 2% Petit Verdot and 2% Marsanne) depending on the bottling notes. Deep saturated red–purple in the glass, the nose opens with dark berry fruit (cassis, black cherry), menthol, polished leather, mocha, and savory tobacco or graphite undertones. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet balanced with a generous velvety texture, multilayered flavors of currant, dark cherry, cocoa powder, and toasted oak spice, wrapped in firm, sandy tannins and ending in an elegantly tapered finish.
