Famille De Boel France Cotes du Rhone 'Jasus lalandii' 2023

Famille de Boel is a small, independent project born not from inheritance, but from intent. Founded by Nelly France and Arnaud De Boel after meeting in New Zealand, the estate reflects a shared philosophy rooted in biodynamic farming, minimal intervention, and a belief that wine should exist first and foremost at the table—meant to be opened, shared, and lived with.

“Jasus lalandii” comes from a single parcel of 40-year-old bush vine Grenache Blanc in the southern Rhône, with a small addition of Roussanne. The fruit is hand-harvested and pressed whole cluster before fermenting naturally in stainless steel. Lees are stirred for texture, while malolactic fermentation is deliberately avoided to preserve freshness, an uncommon choice for Grenache Blanc, which naturally leans toward richness. 

The result is a Rhône white that defies expectation. Aromatically, it leans floral and lifted with jasmine and honeysuckle with a subtle saline edge while the palate balances roundness with energy, driven by mineral tension and a quietly savory, lees-derived texture. 

This is not the broad, weighty Rhône white you might expect. It’s more precise, more vibrant, and built with intention. A wine that bridges texture and freshness, and one that feels as natural at the table as it does compelling in the glass.
