Envinate 'Benje' Blanco 2023

Envinate is one of Spain's most exciting and philosophically driven wine projects — a collective of four winemakers who met while studying enology and have since dedicated themselves to exploring the extraordinary potential of Spain's most remote and forgotten wine regions. Working in the Canary Islands, Galicia, and Extremadura, Envinate produces wines of remarkable originality and terroir expression from ancient indigenous varieties and old vines that have survived centuries of neglect. The 'Benje' wines come from the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands — a volcanic archipelago off the coast of Africa whose ancient, ungrafted vines on black lava soils produce wines of a mineral intensity and character that is unlike anything found on the Spanish mainland.

The 2023 Envinate Benje Blanco is a white wine from Tenerife's Ycoden-Daute-Isora appellation, made from Listán Blanco — an indigenous variety that thrives on the island's volcanic soils and produces wines of extraordinary freshness and mineral complexity. Pale gold with a green tinge, the nose is vibrant and distinctive: fresh citrus, white peach, and green apple layered with a distinctive saline, volcanic mineral note and a hint of white flowers. On the palate, the wine is light-to-medium-bodied with electric acidity, a clean, dry mid-palate, and a long, mineral finish with a pleasantly saline note that speaks unmistakably to the island's volcanic terroir.
