Domaine Taupenot-Merme is a highly regarded family estate in Morey-Saint-Denis, farming vineyards across some of the Côte de Nuits' most celebrated appellations — from Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny to Nuits-Saint-Georges and beyond. The domaine has been in the Taupenot and Merme families for generations, and today is guided by Romain Taupenot with a commitment to sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking that has earned the estate a devoted following among Burgundy collectors. Their Gevrey-Chambertin is sourced from village-level vineyards in this legendary commune — the largest and most powerful of the Côte de Nuits appellations, whose limestone and clay soils produce Pinot Noir of extraordinary depth, structure, and longevity.
The 2018 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Gevrey-Chambertin is a 100% Pinot Noir from village-level vineyards in the commune, from a vintage that delivered exceptional ripeness and concentration across the Côte de Nuits. Deep ruby in the glass, the nose is rich and complex: ripe dark cherry, blackberry, and dried rose petal layered with earthy notes of forest floor, leather, and a hint of spice from careful oak aging. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied with firm, well-integrated tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, mineral-driven finish that speaks clearly to the limestone soils of Gevrey-Chambertin.
The Taupenot-Merme Gevrey-Chambertin 2018 is exceptional alongside roasted duck, braised short ribs, wild mushroom dishes, or aged Burgundian cheeses — a village Gevrey of genuine Premier Cru ambition and excellent value from one of the Côte de Nuits' most respected family estates.
