Domaine Gour de Chaule is a family estate in Gigondas, one of the Southern Rhône’s most celebrated appellations, nestled at the foot of the dramatic Dentelles de Montmirail in the Vaucluse. The estate takes its name from a natural spring on the property and has farmed its vineyards with care and conviction for generations, producing wines deeply rooted in the character of this wild, sun drenched landscape. The 1871 Tradition cuvée pays tribute to the year the domaine was established, honoring the estate’s long history while expressing the full and generous character of Gigondas at its finest.

The 2022 Domaine Gour de Chaule Gigondas Tradition is a Grenache dominant blend with Syrah and Mourvèdre from a warm and generous vintage that delivered excellent ripeness across the Southern Rhône. Aged in large oak foudres to preserve the wine’s fruit character and terroir expression, the wine is a classic Gigondas, powerful and structured yet marked by the elegance and aromatic complexity that distinguish the appellation from its neighbors. Deep ruby garnet in the glass, the nose is rich and inviting, revealing ripe dark cherry, blackberry, and dried fig layered with garrigue, leather, and a touch of Provençal spice. On the palate, the wine is full bodied and generous, with firm tannins, bright acidity, and a long savory finish marked by earthy mineral depth.

The Domaine Gour de Chaule Gigondas Tradition 2022 is exceptional alongside slow roasted lamb, wild boar, grilled duck, or a hearty Provençal daube, a Southern Rhône red of genuine character and excellent value.
