The 2018 Le Grand Vin de Léoville du Marquis de Las Cases is a remarkable Saint-Julien blend, dominated by 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 11% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc. Initially reserved, the wine reveals a layered bouquet of dark fruits like blueberry and black cherry, followed by hints of spice, chocolate, and refreshing mint. On the palate, it’s elegantly structured, with fine, powerful tannins and a balanced acidity that enhances its depth. Complex, vibrant, and refined, this wine shows exceptional aging potential and a distinguished finish.
Chateau Leoville Las Cases is a historic estate in Bordeaux’s Saint-Julien appellation, known for producing exceptional wines. Established as one of the oldest estates in the Medoc, it has been owned by the Delon family since the late 19th century and is now led by Jean-Hubert Delon. Its 55 hectares within Clos de Leoville benefit from the moderating effects of the Gironde River and grow primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc in Gunz gravel soils. The estate’s flagship wine, Le Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de Las Cases, is celebrated for its powerful structure and elegance, while its second wine, Le Petit Lion, emphasizes fresh fruit with a Merlot-forward blend.
