Les Plantes is an enticing expression of Margaux crafted from the estate’s youngest vines. This biodynamic blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc offers vibrant aromas of dark berries, subtle sesame, and hints of salted chocolate, balanced by delicate floral and savory undertones. Medium-bodied with a velvety texture, the wine reveals bright acidity and polished tannins, showcasing flavors of ripe summer fruits and a whisper of spice. Aged for 16 months in a mix of amphoras and oak barrels, Les Plantes is approachable now yet possesses the structure to evolve gracefully in the bottle.

Château Durfort-Vivens, an iconic second-growth Margaux estate, boasts a winemaking history dating back to the 18th century. Revered by Thomas Jefferson and ranked highly in the 1855 Bordeaux classification, the estate remains a benchmark of quality and innovation. Under the leadership of Gonzague Lurton, the winery transitioned to biodynamic viticulture in 2013, becoming the first classified Margaux growth certified by Demeter. The estate’s commitment to sustainability and terroir-driven winemaking is reflected in every bottle, blending tradition with progressive farming and vinification methods.

Critical Acclaim

  • James Suckling (93 points): "Blackberries, cherries, sesame and salted-chocolate notes. Peach stones, too. It’s medium-bodied with silky, creamy tannins. So juicy and pure. 88% Cabernet sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Delicious now."
  • Vinous (91 points): "The 2019 Les Plantes is the new, young-vines wine from Durfort-Vivens. It offers notable depth to match its creamy, succulent personality. Drink this over the next few years, while the dark red fruit remains vibrant. There’s so much character here."
  • Decanter (90 points): "Very bright and bursting through on the nose which shows a soft perfume and red summer fruit aromas. Wow - juicy, bright and energetic. Not massive in structure, but clear summer berry fruit, lift and verve. Measured extraction achieves soft tannins, fruit pulp and bright juice. Lively and easy to drink. From young vines and 2019 is the first vintage."
