Château du Tertre is a Cinquième Grand Cru Classé estate in the commune of Arsac, on the southern edge of the Margaux appellation — one of the Medoc's most celebrated and perfumed appellations, renowned for producing Cabernet Sauvignon of extraordinary elegance and finesse. The estate's vineyards sit on a distinctive gravel knoll — 'tertre' means hillock in French — whose well-drained soils and excellent sun exposure produce fruit of exceptional concentration and aromatic complexity. Under the ownership of the Albada Jelgersma family since 1997, Château du Tertre has undergone a remarkable transformation, with significant investment in both vineyard and cellar elevating the estate to a level of quality that consistently punches above its classification.

The 2018 Château du Tertre Margaux is a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot from one of Bordeaux's finest recent vintages — a warm, dry year that produced wines of exceptional ripeness, concentration, and structure across the Medoc. Deep ruby with a violet rim, the nose is classically Margaux: cassis, dark plum, and violet layered with cedar, graphite, and a whisper of tobacco and dried herbs. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and refined, with the hallmark silky tannins of the appellation, a concentrated mid-palate, and a long, elegant finish of real complexity and persistence.

The Château du Tertre Margaux 2018 is a cellar candidate of genuine quality — drinking beautifully now alongside roasted lamb, duck confit, or a classic Bordelaise beef preparation, and built to evolve gracefully for 15 years or more.
