Catena wines are the result of a special collaboration between fourth-generation vintner Laura Catena and chief winemaker Alejandro Vigil, showcasing the unique essence of High Mountain Estate Vineyards. The blend is a culmination of grapes sourced from four distinct vineyards and harvested at different times: Agrelo, Villa Bastías (at 3,675 ft.), Gualtallary (at 4,757 ft.), and El Cepillo (at 3,576 ft.). The process begins with whole cluster pressing, followed by fermentation sur lies in a combination of barrels and stainless steel tanks, utilizing wild yeasts. The wine undergoes an elevage period of 6 to 8 months in French oak, with barrel selection tailored to the specific vineyard and vintage, incorporating first, second, and third use barrels. Notably, 40% of the blend bypasses malolactic fermentation. The result is a harmonious blend characterized by floral notes, ripe tropical-fruit flavors, pronounced mineral undertones, and a vibrant acidity.
