These grapes come from old vines - 60+ years. Their winemaking process consists of hand-picking, careful sorting, and then a gentle press to get only the best juice. After fermenting in steel tanks, the wine is transferred to used French oak barrels for a year. The wine is then bottle aged for six years before release. This helps create more of a complex, mature wine with hints of balsamic and herbs on the nose, a rich mouthfeel bursting with dark fruit flavors, and tannins that have softened beautifully over time.
Huguet de Can Feixes is a unique winery nestled high in the Penedès region near Barcelona. At over 1,400 feet elevation, this family-run estate takes pride in its ecological approach. The Huguets blend traditional winemaking with modern organic practices, creating a balance between cultivated vineyards and wild landscapes. Their location is quite special - it's one of the most inland sites in Penedès. The area sees major temperature swings and stays relatively dry throughout the year. Its chalky, clay-rich soils produce low-yielding but high-quality grapes.
