Caiarossa is one of Tuscany's most distinctive and philosophically driven estates — a biodynamic property in the Riparbella hills of the Maremma, whose diverse soils and warm, Mediterranean climate produce wines of extraordinary complexity and character. The estate was founded with a vision of creating wines that express the full potential of both international and indigenous varieties in this unique coastal Tuscan terroir, and the results have earned Caiarossa a devoted following among collectors who prize its wines for their depth, elegance, and the unmistakable stamp of their biodynamic origins. The Rosso di Toscana is the estate's approachable, earlier-drinking expression — a blend that captures the character of Caiarossa's diverse vineyard holdings in a wine of genuine complexity and food-friendliness.
The 2019 Caiarossa Rosso di Toscana IGT is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, and other varieties from the estate's biodynamic vineyards, aged in French oak to add structure and complexity while preserving the wine's natural freshness. Deep ruby in the glass, the nose is complex and inviting: ripe dark cherry, blackcurrant, and plum layered with dried herbs, cedar, a hint of iron-rich Tuscan earth, and the subtle floral note that is the signature of biodynamic farming. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied with fine, well-integrated tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, savory finish with a distinctly coastal Tuscan character.
The Caiarossa Rosso di Toscana 2019 is exceptional alongside grilled lamb, roasted duck, wild mushroom dishes, or aged Pecorino Toscano — a biodynamic Maremma red of genuine depth and excellent value from one of Tuscany's most committed and distinctive estates.
