Bass Phillip Estate Pinot Noir 2018
Bass Phillip Estate Pinot Noir 2018
Low stock: 1 left
This Pinot Noir is vibrant and acid-driven, with a light, translucent strawberry hue. The wine is unfined and unfiltered, resulting in a natural cloudiness when poured. The nose is elegant and expressive, offering aromas of fresh red berries, dried roses, savory spices, and a touch of white pepper. On the palate, it starts with a zesty acidity that softens, giving way to silky fruit flavors, floral notes, and a subtle minerality.
Bass Phillip is a prestigious Australian winery in Victoria's Gippsland region, known for its exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Established in 1979, the vineyards have been biodynamically farmed since 2002, benefiting from mineral-rich soils and cool growing conditions, which allow slow, balanced ripening. Fermentation occurs with wild yeasts, and wines are aged in French Allier oak barrels, using gravity flow to minimize oxidation. No fining or filtration is used, preserving the wine’s complexity. The winery takes its name from 19th-century explorer George Bass and Arthur Phillip, New South Wales' first governor.
