This Brunello is crafted in a classic, traditional style, aging for about three years in large Slavonian oak barrels before bottling. It offers a solid structure with layered flavors of ripe red berries and mature hints of leather. Juicy cherry, licorice, and a distinctive minerality from crushed stone add depth. The wine is approachable with soft, smooth tannins right from the start.
In 1955, Nello Baricci founded his estate when he purchased an abandoned farm and vineyards on the Montosoli hill, the first in the area to be officially recognized as part of the Brunello di Montalcino appellation in 1966. A pioneer in the region, Baricci was a founding member of the Brunello consortium, established in 1967, where he served as Vice President and played a vital role in securing DOCG status for the region in 1980. Inspired by stories from the older generation about Montosoli’s long history of producing the best wines, Baricci saw the hill's potential and was the first to champion its distinct calcareous galestro rock terroir. He released his first Brunello di Montalcino in 1971, and in 1983, his wine received the prestigious Tre Bicchieri award from Gambero Rosso. Today, the estate is managed by Baricci’s grandson, Federico Buffi, who has been at the helm since 2009, continuing the family tradition of excellence.
