Opus One Overture Red 2021

The 2021 Overture, the first vintage-dated release of Opus One’s second label, is a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, and 3% Merlot. This elegant wine opens with aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, and cherry, complemented by hints of violet, crushed leaves, and a touch of earthy minerality. On the palate, it’s lively and layered, offering flavors of black currant, juicy blueberry, and wild strawberry, accompanied by velvety tannins that glide smoothly. Subtle undertones of espresso and dark cocoa add depth, while a vibrant acidity provides balance and a long, refined finish.

Since its inception in 1993, Overture has been a classic “second wine,” made with the same meticulous care and precision as Opus One. Sourced from estate vineyards and crafted using organic practices, each lot is handpicked and vinified with attention to detail.
